the cupcake attempt

After getting myself the piping bag and other items I attempted to bake my own cupcake with actually good quality icing. Not much to say so I'm gonna show you guys some pictures now :) I took the decency to take pictures as I went just so you know how cupcakes are made.

Ingredients needed. But of course not all are mandatory, for example, hundreds of thousands and the silver beads are just for decorative purposes :) Let us begin!

Remember to use free-range eggs!!! Although it is a little bit more expensive but at least the chickens are happier and healthier!!

I have a huge smile across my face every time I reach this stage. Just because I can taste the mixture!!!! Yummm..

If you're feeling rather adventurous like me, add some chocolate chip dots!

Now, spoon mixture into the cupcake tray. Don't you guys just love spooning? ;) I know I do!

Tadahhhhh!! Oh, side note, if anyone knows how to bake cupcakes that are flat on top, could you please leave a comment?? I really want them just so I can put proper icing on them!!

These are me second batches!

So for those people out there who would like to try this recipe out, it's below. I actually is really really simple and the ingredients are easily available. Have fun and leave me a comment and let me know how you guys went!

Makes

12

Ingredients

  • 2 cups self-raising flour, sifted
  • 3/4 cup caster sugar
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 125g butter, melted, cooled
  • 2 x 59g eggs, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon Queen Natural Vanilla Essence
  • Sprinkles and lollies, to decorate
  • Icing

  • 1 1/2 cups pure icing sugar
  • Pink food colouring, optional
  • 1 to 1 1/2 tablespoons water

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C. Grease a 12 x 1/3-cup capacity muffin pan. Alternatively, line holes with paper cases. Combine flour and caster sugar in a bowl. Make a well in the centre.
  2. Add milk, butter, eggs and vanilla to flour mixture. Using a large metal spoon, stir gently to combine.
  3. Spoon mixture into prepared muffin pan. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean. Stand in pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool.
  4. Make icing: Sift icing sugar into a bowl. Add food colouring and water. Stir until smooth and well combined. Spoon icing over cupcakes. Decorate with sprinkles and lollies.
